About Wayne

Wayne has been teaching and preaching for 50 years with much of this as a lay-person. He has also spent 11 years in pastoring. He loves involvement in people ministries and it is not surprising he worked in the field of secular counselling and mediation for many years.

Currently, Wayne leads the teaching ministry at Southgate Christian Community and is also their pastoral care leader.

Wayne is happily married with four children and six grandchildren. When not studying, he loves to read, and listen to contemporary worship. Wayne also enjoys the odd game of chess while his favourite marriage pastimes are a quality bushwalk or some café time after seeing a good movie.

Stories are powerful! They invite us into the experiences of others. This blog is an open window on Wayne’s story which contains many powerful experiences.

Wayne recalls ‘significant moments’ of his journey. His story is rich with hope, truth and love, often in times of personal challenge and difficulty. Evident in each part of his story is a love for the people and for God who spoke to him when he was just seven years old.

I’ve journeyed alongside Wayne for over 15 years in leadership, and can testify to the truth and power and healing in his words. He is my prayer friend. He brought peaceful still waters and wise counsel to me and our church when it went though tumultuous times. His words regularly inspire and spur our church on, and challenge us to not be satisfied with second best. His words stir us up to want ‘more’ from our lives and from our journey with God who loves us more than anything else.

Wayne now invites you to ‘be encouraged’. Dive in. Let his story wash over you and inspire you to be the best you can be. The world deserves nothing short of this.

Over the decades Wayne Martin has never failed to impress me or impact my life through his insights, reflections and generous spirit. Over the years we have led together and I have served his leadership, witnessing his capacity to connect and journey with others through heights and depths. His sermons and writings are worth devouring and I commend him to you.

In these reflective writings, a prophetic theme emerges as Wayne courageously shares various life happenings; how these have challenged him and contributed to shaping the man that he is, while aspiring now for the ‘new song’.

Wayne’s transparency and humility combined, enable the reader to journey chartered waters and glean from the authority of a surrendered life. An inspiration for all who long for the ‘new song’, don’t be surprised by the pull of heaven’s timing into unchartered waters.

Wayne entered the Brindabella Baptist Church some fourteen years ago, blessing the Body with his teaching, pastoral and counselling gifts. I am ever so grateful that in the latter years of my time at Brindabella and then Southgate Christian Community Wayne was appointed to a leadership role. I got to know Wayne as a man of honour and so authentic. My life was personally blessed by his wisdom and extraordinary compassion.
